Reopening Resurrection for On-site Worship

Begins October 4 at 11 am

COVID-19 continues to have a significant impact on the Kansas City area. Church of the Resurrection has developed protocols intended to provide the safest environment possible amid the pandemic. The virus can be anywhere and we’re counting on you to help keep our community safe! When attending any scheduled event, you agree to consider your own personal circumstances and abide by all applicable church, state and local safety protocols.

What We're Doing

Here are the steps we're taking to try to keep you safe and our facilities clean.

Limiting Capacity

Each service will be limited to 25% of full seating capacity, and we will require attendees to pre-register for in-person services for at least the first two weeks. We will open the entire Sanctuary to enable safe physical distancing.

Distanced Seating

We will close the first two rows of every venue, and will close every other row. For a second service, we will alternate the closed rows between services so rows won't be used in consecutive services. We will also leave at least 3 seats between family units.

Controlled Entrances/Exits

Before services, ushers will guide congregants to seating. After the services, ushers will dismiss congregants by section to avoid crowding at the doors. In common areas we will have signage and floor stickers reminding everyone to follow safety guidelines, including maintaining 6 feet of separation between individuals or families.

Wearing Masks

Masks will be required for all volunteers and attendees over 2 years old. Acceptable masks include cloth or disposable face coverings that cover the nose and mouth completely. A face shield alone is not sufficient and requires that a mask be worn as well.

Sanitization

The worship space will be sanitized each week. Commonly touched areas, such as door handles, will be wiped down between services. Hand sanitizer will be available inside exterior building doors and at the sanctuary doors.

Limited Amenities

Refreshments will not be offered, and food/beverage are not permitted onsite, since consuming them requires the removal of masks. Water fountains will be closed. Restrooms will be available and sanitized before and after services, with doors propped open where privacy allows. Lids will be removed from trash cans.

Contact-Free Greetings

Greeters will wave a warm welcome, but will not shake hands while serving. Doors will be propped open. We will not distribute bulletins or handouts, and we will not offer a stand and greet time during worship.

Touchless Service

Offering will be taken online through PushPay or may be dropped in acrylic offerings boxes near the exit as you leave. Items such as prayer cards and pens will be removed from seats. Attendance will be entered electronically.

Special Elements

Communion will use pre-packaged elements distributed by masked and gloved ushers. Baptisms will be performed at the family's discretion. Kneelers, candle carts and other frequently touched worship fixtures will be removed from the worship space.

Children & Students

Our nursery, KiDSCOR, and Student Ministries will remain online, and resume meeting onsite at a later date.
